Our mission

Washington Window & Door was founded in 2020 in response to the rapidly evolving window/door industry. Openings continue to get larger and doors/windows more complex.

Working within the residential construction industry for 35 years, Barry Stohlman has had experience fabricating custom windows/doors in Northern Italy and then for the last 25 years working in custom cabinetry/millwork and residential additions/renovations. It became increasingly clear that the industry needed someone who would focus specifically on specialty doors/windows. Our company strives to stay abreast of all the latest evolutions in this space within the larger world of residential construction to provide the type of expertise, passion and attention to detail required to be able to partner successfully with architects, builders and product dealers to ensure the level of quality installation needed to showcase these window/door products.

BARRY STOHLMAN

Owner

Barry has been working in residential construction since 1988, after completing a degree in Philosophy from The Catholic University of America. He worked for 9 years in Northern Italy learning the craft of custom millwork and cabinetry and in 1998 returned to the DC Metro area and ran a custom cabinetry/millwork business for 10 years. He then moved into the world of residential renovations and additions, bringing the same attention to detail and quality workmanship to clients over the next 12 years. Since 2020, he has brought all of this experience to focus on the niche of windows/doors where that same attention to detail and customer service are required to best serve the needs of the market. Barry is married with 8 children and 8 grandchildren. He resides on a small hobby farm in Boyds, MD and raises farm animals for friends and family.
